National Dog Day Deals!

It is finally here, the day we have all been waiting for: National Dog Day!

Okay, so maybe we didn’t have it written down on our calendars, or we actually had no idea that it was coming up… but I’m sure your pooch is excited on this very special day honoring our furry friends.

Besides spoiling your pup with treats, extra walkies, and maybe a fancy new outfit, National Dog Day has some really cool perks for you – yes, YOU, the OWNER! Did you know that lots of businesses take advantage of National Dog Day (and most other “holidays”) to do special promotions or host sales? Some of these companies are in the dog business, so it makes sense that they would celebrate NDD, but others are companies that ordinarily have nothing to do with dogs and are just looking to boost sales, raise awareness of NDD, or want to throw a sale for their loyal customers.

Below, I’ve gathered all of the (good) National Dog Day Deals that I have found so far. Take a look… you would be surprised what you can get! My favorite so far is the wine deal (of course). But act quickly, NDD is only one day a year, and many of these sales end tonight!

WoofTrax / Walk for a Dog: I love Walk for a Dog. I use it every day when I walk Phoebe, and also when I’m walking my clients’ dogs. It uses GPS to track your route, and donates money to a shelter of your choosing as a reward for walking! For NDD, they teaming up with Bzees, a shoe retailer. For every pair of shoes you purchase on Bzees using the code WOOFTRAX, Bzees will donate $5 to the One Cure Fund at the Colorado State University Flint Animal Cancer Center. These donations will be used to help develop a cure for canine cancer. What a great way to honor National Dog Day! Also, when you use the Walk for a Dog app, remember to post a photo of your walk to your social media account and tag #woofitwithbzees and #walkforadog. You’ll be entered into a raffle to win shoes or a handbag from Bzees!

Wag! Dog Walking: This app-based dog walking service is awesome! They do ASAP walks, or you can schedule recurring walks for your dog. They are the Uber of the dog walking world! I will be writing a separate post dedicated to Wag because I was recently hired onto their team as an independent walker. For NDD, they are offering the chance to win 3 months’ worth of unlimited Wag services: walking, sitting/boarding, and training. All you have to do is download the app and book a walk, sitting, or boarding, and you will be entered into the raffle! The more services you book, the more entries into the raffle you earn. The services can be booked for the future, but the reservations must be made by midnight tonight. As someone who has both used Wag and is now part of the Wag team, I guarantee that they are a great service!

Wine Insiders: You know me… I’m always looking for an excuse to drink wine. Today, National Dog Day is my excuse! Wine Insiders is offering an amazing deal for wine (and dog) lovers: a case of 12 of their wines for only $66.66 (plus $5 tax and FREE shipping)! Do the math… 12 wines for about $72 = $6 a bottle! And these are not your ordinary bottom shelf wines (not that there’s anything wrong with bottom shelf wine!), these are wonderful, unique wines that I have yet to find in my local grocery store. I have ordered from Wine Insiders before, and I simply loved the case they sent me! You can choose a red or a white selection, or a mixed selection of their wines. I’ve already put in my order… you should head over right away and look at your eligible cases of wine. Don’t be intimidated by the price tag; once added to your cart, the price will drop to $66.66 and you’ll be on your way to celebrating National Dog Day with class!

BarkBox: As you may remember from my vlog about BarkBox, Phoebe and I decided BarkBox wasn’t for us. However, their service is GREAT and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t have a picky dog like Phoebs! I still like to receive newsletters from them just in case I see something in their online shop that I want. If you sign up now, you’ll get your first BarkBox for only $5 (with a 6 or 12 month subscription)… what a deal! I don’t know how long this promotion is going to last, so if you’re interested you should sign up immediately. Petco: Of course, the big retailers are offering deals, too. Petco is advertising an online promotion: get up to 50% off sitewide, plus FREE shipping on orders of at least $29. WOW!

Petsmart: Visit online, and get 10$ off an order of $60, or $20 off an order of $100, plus FREE shipping with no minimum. You can’t beat free shipping!

Bake Sale Bakery: Located in East Village, they are offering $2 doggie treats today!

Three Dog Bakery: This Del Mar dog bakery is offering free doggie cupcakes to furry visitors. And with a $10 purchase, you will have a chance to win a dog gift basket!

Hotel Del: The historic Hotel Del Coronado celebrates dogs every Sunday with their Yappy Hour, where they offer dog-themed drinks and free water/yappetizers for your pooch.

The Patio on Lamont: Take your dog for a night out in PB and you’ll get half-off drinks on the “dog-tails” menu!

Quartyard: This cool, outdoor venue has it all: beer garden, food trucks, coffee shop, music, and a dog park. A great hangout spot to chill with your honored hound.
